Save Clerkenwell Fire Station

Dear UNISON member,
please read in HTML
SAVE CLERKENWELL FIRE STATION
Please join us at the union branch banner, Highbury Fields on this Saturday at 12.00noon to save the Clerkenwell Fire Station.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson is planning to close 12 fire stations across London, including Clerkenwell. He also wants to remove 18 fire engines andslash 520 fire-fighter posts.
These cuts will cost lives.
Emergency response times will increase significantly. People in high rise flats are particularly at risk, highlighted by the recent fire at Kestrel House on City Road. Islington is the most densely populated areas in London. We need Clerkenwell station to keep us safe.
These cuts are being made for purely financial reasons.
While bankers continue to rake in profits and bonuses, the Coalition government are cutting public services.
