UNISON launches schools Living Wage campaign

UNISON has launched a UK wide campaign calling for the Living Wage to become the new minimum rate of pay in UK schools. The Living Wage in London is £8.55 per hour and £7.45 per hour in the rest of the UK.

UNISON’s campaign will be a massive boost to those in cleaning and catering roles in particular. For more information see page 5 of the UNISON’ Schools’ newsletter: http://acrobat.unison.org.uk/acrobat/21261.pdf

As part of our Living Wage campaign UNISON has also been in talks with the main faith run school organisations. As a result UNISON and the Catholic Education Service - the part of the Catholic Church responsible for promoting and supporting Catholic education - have agreed to work together to support and celebrate Catholic Schools implementing the Living Wage. The full story can be found on the UNISON website
